Jake joined the AEP in 2016 as a graduate student. He did his undergraduate at Aquinas College. During the field seasons he has been based primarily in Utqiaġvik, but has spent significant time in Atqasuk.

Jake graduated from GVSU in December 2020 with a master's degree in Biology. For his thesis he examined the changes in plant cover occurring across the ARCSS grids in relation to changing biotic and abiotic factors.

Jake would like to one day work closely with the bio-remediation of degraded ecosystems and compromised human habitats.
