Terrance Martin, '73
Curator and Chair of Anthropology at the Illinois State Museum Terrance Martin, ’73 has been active in his field since his graduation from Grand Valley State University. While in graduate school at Western Michigan University and earning his PhD at Michigan State University, he worked as a research assistant. These early steps would lead him to a career in Anthropology that began in Michigan and continued to Illinois.
Martin started his work at the Illinois State Museum in 1983 as a research associate. Over the years, his positions advanced from assistant curator to curator. He also became part of the adjunct faculty at the University of Illinois at Springfield in 1993.
In addition to holding membership to the International Council for Archaeozoology, the Society of American Archaeology, and the Illinois Association for the Advancement of Archaeology, Martin has received numerous awards for his service in the anthropological and archaeological fields.
Martin and his wife currently reside in Springfield.
