1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
My journey since graduating GVSU has taken me all across the state for filmmaking! I was fortunate enough to work on two feature films while in school, but I stepped into a higher art department role on the feature I did after graduating. I worked as the set dresser, assistant props master, and special effects assistant for the entirety of the production. I've continued to freelance on other projects, from day playing on feature films and commercials, to costume designing a music video. My thesis film, Milly, that was created during my time at GVSU recently screened at Wealthy Theatre for Open Projector Night: Halloween Edition. When I'm not on set, I continue to work on my own scripts and projects.

2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
I had countless amazing experiences while at GV, but I will always hold my Fiction Filmmaking I experience close to my heart. I not only was able to make a film that I was passionate about, but met people who felt the same way. The joy of filmmaking is that it's a collective art form. The people I met in that class are not only closest collaborators, but also my friends. We created a film I am endlessly proud of, and we were fortunate that "Gorge" took home a win at Open Projector Night: Halloween last year.

3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
The piece of advice that has stuck with me is that the most important part of the process is to start it. So often, in both the arts and other sectors, the hardest part of any project is the beginning. You'll never know the outcome if you never give yourself the change to see it.

4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand Valley experience.
Inspiring, fulfilling, and engaging

5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
I feel my purpose in life is to make change not just through my art, but by helping others see their vision come to fruition. The films we watch throughout our lives can make huge impacts on us. Often times it can be the first time we see ourselves represented, or see that our struggles are shared. My goal is to continue creating work that helps people not just feel seen, but to help them not feel alone.
