1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
Since graduating from Grand Valley, I've completed my first semester as a Graduate Student Clinician in Speech-Language Pathology at RUSH University in Chicago. I began my first clinical placement at the Outpatient Craniofacial Center, where I am part of a care team that develops treatment plans for patients with diagnoses including cleft lip and palate. I also engage in community outreach by assessing patients at the Dr. Emily Q. Wang SCOPE Speech & Hearing Clinic, a non-profit healthcare facility that delivers services to under-resourced populations in the Chicagoland area. When I am not in class or with patients, I'm volunteering in the NICU Cuddler program, holding infants when their parents are unable to be present.

2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
There are too many! Living in my sorority house, studying abroad in Italy, and working as a student assistant at the Alumni House, to name a few.

3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
To focus on the good and watch the good get better.

4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand Valley experience.
Transformative, independent, and rewarding.

5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
Ever since I was little, I've known that my calling is to help people. Speech pathology is unique in that we treat patients across the entire lifespan, from newborn to geriatric. I find solace in changing the world by just helping people feel better. Giving them the confidence to gain or regain different abilities through therapy, and quite literally giving patients their voice back, that's my superpower!
