1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
After earning my undergraduate degree, I stayed at GVSU to attend
graduate school and served as a Graduate Assistant in HRL. In my
second year of grad school, I left to pursue a full-time position at
Aquinas College. Upon graduating with my Master’s Degree in College
Student Affairs I returned to GVSU as a Living Center Director in
Murray, VanSteeland, and GVA. I spent two amazing years collaborating
with campus patented to support the Lakers. In 2013, I went to MSU
where I have served in various capacities. I really find great impact
in serving students and communities that are most marginalized.
2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
I absolutely loved Kleiner late night. I lived in Kistler, and my
friend group would spend hours in Kleiner studying, dancing, and
joking around. This really shaped my sense of belonging at GVSU. My
friend group from that time continues to be my village.
3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
“Be who you are and say what you mean because people who mind
don’t matter and people who matter don’t mind.” I think this is a Dr.
Seuss quote, but it’s gotten me to embrace my true authentic self and
surround myself with people who nurture that in me.
4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand
Valley experience.
Transformation, growth, and community
5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
I would like to see equitable access to education regardless of
zip code. All young people deserve access to opportunities that
support their talents, innovations, and dreams.
