Faculty and Staff Learning Resources
The GVSU Art Museum presents events, activities, and resources related to exhibitions, art in public spaces, and the permanent collection each semester to support faculty and engage students and community members. We also collaborate with departments and individual faculty to develop additional opportunities. And we host tours and visit classes throughout the year. Learning and Outreach Manager Jessica Sundstrom is available to support and collaborate with faculty and staff across the University.

Art Collection Resources
Browse the Collection by Medium
The Collection includes a wide range of mediums. We've highlighted artwork in the collection from four major categories: photography, works on paper, sculpture, and paintings. These categories are then broken down even further by both the the raw materials with which the artwork was made and the history of the art form.
Browse by the Collection by Academic Topic
The GVSU Art Collection consists of works of art from around the world spanning 1,600 years of history. The following mini-collections are curated by academic topic in an effort to expedite searches for interdisciplinary studies.
Use Visual Thinking Strategies to Build Visual Thinking Skills
Visual Thinking Strategy (VTS) is an inquiry-based teaching method that improves a student's ability to describe, analyze, and interpret imagery and information through observing and discussing visual art. These resources will get you started.
Visual Literacy
The GVSU Art Museum supports visual literacy initiatives on campus. Visit the Pew Faculty Teaching and Learning Center's visual literacy resources page to learn more.
Classroom Visits and Collaborations
Each semester we create learning resources and experiential opportunities related to exhibitions and the collection; view past collaborations. Learning and Outreach Manager Jessica Sundstrom is available to support and collaborate with faculty and staff across the University.
A class visits the GVSU Art Museum office to view original artworks up close.
GVSU Art Museum staff visit classrooms with original works of art, host groups of students in our art storage facility, provide customized tours of exhibitions, and collaborate on a variety of visual art and learning initiatives. Use this form to start a conversation about a visit, tour, or collaboration. An Art Museum staff person will follow-up to make arrangements or continue the dialogue.
