Participants will learn about the early signs of autism and resources to support early identification in young children. Components of the START Education-based evaluation training will be highlighted with a focus on eligibility determination for young children. A brief review of the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) ASD eligibility criteria will be provided along with evaluation components outlined in the Education-Based Evaluations for ASD document published by the Michigan Autism Council. Variables that impact early childhood evaluations for ASD will be discussed along with differential eligibility determination. Additional resources for early identification and eligibility determination will be provided.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs): START offers 1.75 State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECHs). Participants must complete the Attendance Form provided at the training within 3 days of the training date to receive SCECHs. Upon request, all attendees can receive a Certificate of Attendance after the training.
