Research Interests

I am interested in how soils develop and function in wetlands and disturbed ecosystems. In particular, I investigate the biogeochemistry of wetland ecosystems towards developing solutions for problematic hydric soil situations and improving wetland conservation and management. I use pedological, hydrological, and ecosystem concepts, along with hands-on approaches, to address broad-scale environmental management concerns in wetlands throughout the arid western US, the Arctic, a variety of coastal regions, and beyond. I am also actively engaged and interested in a wide range of research and outreach pertaining to science communication, public engagement, active learning, and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEAM.

Education

Ph.D., Soil Science, University of Wyoming
M.S., Biological and Environmental Science, University of Rhode Island
B.S., Environmental Science and Management, University of Rhode Island
