1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
It's been a wild one! I got an internship at Steelcase working on
the optics for privacy window films. When the project ended, I worked
on an innovation team, eventually becoming their scrum master or peer
leader. Then later found an opportunity at Meijer as a scrum master.
But my passion has always been organizing and leading groups, so I
pursued a management position here!
2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
I miss the physics club area all the time! We had a space within
Padnos where physics students could congregate, collab on projects,
and work through tough problems on whiteboards. In that room, we had
all-night study sessions, celebrations after gravity waves were
recorded, and even smashed pies into the faces of our professors to
raise funds! Take this as my encouragement to get involved with clubs
while you're in school!
3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
Take opportunities as they're presented and don't get too worked
up about the path to your destination. My career has been anything but
straightforward, and most of the best things that happened to me were
unplanned. If an opportunity that presents itself excites you or takes
you a step toward your goals, you should take it!
4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand
Valley experience.
Cozy, personal, and windy
5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
My focus is on smaller more personal differences. I want to use
my time and energy to bring happiness, comfort, and support to the
people I interact with most in my life. If I can bring a small spot of
sunshine wherever I go, then I'll be satisfied.
