1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
Since graduating with my bachelor's in 2003, I was hired by my current district the day before school started and have been teaching there since! I have taught 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th grades, and am now the 5-8 Instructional Coach. I was the 2022-2023 Region 2 Teacher of the Year, which was a great honor and experience!

2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
A favorite Grand Valley memory is meeting two friends, Jill and Brad, and having all of our 300 and 400-level classes together! It was so nice to go through all that with a core group of friends! We all did our teacher assisting and student teaching in different places, so it was great to compare experiences and share ideas!

3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
The best advice I have ever received is to give yourself grace. We give it to others, but often not to ourselves. It's okay if we don't get everything done today!

4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand Valley experience.
Career-ready, non-traditional, and supportive

5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
The difference I would like to make in the world is to see teaching honored as the valiant profession it is, and teachers be paid equivalent to other professionals for the amazing work they do every day!
