1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
Since I graduated, I moved to Philadelphia, PA. I work at Thomas
Jefferson University in the surgery department as a research assistant
studying liver and pancreatic cancer. I design and develop the CRISPR
models for our lab and do the molecular cloning to make various tools
for our lab to use. I started as a research technician and have been
promoted three times since then. Since moving to Philadelphia in
January 2019 I have gotten married in 2021 and we welcomed our
daughter in September of 2023. My family and I will be moving back to
the Midwest this summer (2024) to be closer to family.
2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
One of my favorite memories is meeting Dr. Hart and talking about
cancer biology research. That conversation has kept me motivated
throughout the years and will continue to help me persevere and have
confidence in my abilities.
3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
The best piece of advice I have received is to always trust but verify.
4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand
Valley experience.
Engaging, Fun, and Challenging
5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
I would like to better understand cancer progression to improve
patient prognosis and survival.
