1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
My journey since graduation took me down the road to Holland,
where I worked at Hope College for 5 years. While at Hope I worked in
Residential Life, living on campus and helping to make the best
experiences for students living on campus. When I left Hope, I moved
to Columbus, Ohio to Otterbein University, working in a variety of
departments including Residential Life, Advancement, Annual Giving and
finally starting the Office of Events and Conferences. Most recently,
making the change to The Ohio State University to start the Events and
Conferences team within the Office of Student Life. My journey has led
me to continue to live and work at other higher education
institutions, but am thankful for the foundation that GVSU taught me
both in the classroom and out.
2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
I have two favorite GVSU memories, one is the first snowfall,
walking across the bridge and seeing the large blue art piece lightly
covered in snow. My second was helping the campus activities board to
plan an on-campus Homecoming celebration that included a full-scale
carnival. What fun!
3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
The best piece of advice I've ever received is to get involved.
Get involved on campus, in your community, and make the difference you
want in the world!
4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand
Valley experience.
Exciting, Thoughtful, and Perfect
5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
To encourage people to have a healthy dialogue, to be open to
learning, and to give back. Because at the end of the day, kindness matters.
