Employer
Content Strategist at Humana

1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
Since graduation, I've transitioned from journalism to working in university development, to now finally finding my place as a technical writer and content strategist in the healthcare tech field. Living in the greater Chicago area, there are so many job opportunities in technical writing, I feel incredibly grateful for my skills and education to allow me to find these career opportunities now.

2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
My best GVSU memories are working at TOP (telephone outreach program) in the basement of the alumni house! I made the greatest group of friends while calling alumni to share updates and news on the university, and I still keep in touch with many of them. This job is what helped me get my first job after graduating working in university development, so I'm forever grateful for this on-campus job!

3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
I think the best advice I learned while at GVSU was just the idea that liberal education is so important, and that you can learn just as much out in the world, through study abroad, through the books you read, through the connections you make, as you do in the classroom. I think this foundation is what helped me succeed more than anything.

4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand Valley experience.
Welcoming, empowering, safe

5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
I want to leave my mark on the world, in whatever way I can. I'm working on a novel that I have a goal to finish this year, and in everything I do I continue to strive to leave behind a positive impact with my words and actions.
