1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
I graduated with my teaching certificate and spent the rest of
the school year teaching 3rd grade. I loved this experience but wanted
something different for myself so I took a position at Harvest Church
where I get to utilize my education as an assistant to their
counseling and kids’ ministries. While I am content with this
position, I am realizing more and more how much I want to work with
and help people more directly and look forward to seeing what my next
job may be. I’m still young and exploring my options!
2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
While completing my English major, I felt like I was not a good
enough critical thinker and writer compared to my peers, but when I
took a class with professor Kurt Bullock, he made me recognize that I
actually excel in these areas. His class was the most challenging I
took at GV, but in a good way. I went on to complete my capstone
project under Kurt’s leadership two years later and managed to earn a
perfect score, which is unheard of. I don’t say this to brag, but to
applaud the awesome professors at GV and how they have helped students
like me gain confidence and expertise.
3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
You’re smarter than you think you are, so challenge yourself!
4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand
Valley experience.
Growth, friendships, experience
5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
I want to help people reach their spiritual, physical, and
mental/emotional goals and experience true joy through that process.
