Events Manager at Brookstone Capital Management
1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
After I graduated I transitioned from a part-time intern to
full-time at Rockford Construction's Blue35 and GRid70 spaces downtown
Grand Rapids. I assisted with running the event space, managing
tenants and the coworking floor. After a year full-time, I applied for
my current position as the Events Manager at FormulaFolio Investments.
I am the sole coordinator planning events all over the United States
from 10-500 attendees. We recently merged with another company and our
new company name is Brookstone Capital Management.
2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
One of my favorite memories at Grand Valley was studying abroad
at the Cannes Film Festival in France. The work experience and
opportunity to travel abroad was unforgettable!
3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
Network & connect! In the hospitality world, and many other
industries, it's so important to make connections and follow up on
those connections. Throughout my college career, I received all my
internships because of someone I knew or a connection that I followed
up on which ultimately lead me to my current dream job!
4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand
Valley experience.
Challenging, Impactful & Unforgettable
5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
Positive interactions. I think I can make a difference in the
world by intentionally being positive. For example, listening to the
sales call and responding no thank you instead of hanging up
immediately. Not posting negative social media posts/comments. Not
yelling at the server because the order came in wrong, or the package
was late or something was incorrect. A positive interaction is contagious!
