1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
After graduating from GVSU I moved to Boston to pursue graduate
school at Northeastern University. I obtained my M.S. in College
Student Development & Counseling in 2017 and then began working at
Berklee College of Music in Campus Life for 4 years. I have since
recently relocated back to Michigan and started at position at the
University of Michigan in the University Career Center as a Career
Coach. It's been my passion to work with college students and help
people realize their potential, so I've been fortunate to do that at
two amazing institutions thus far in my career.
2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
My favorite GVSU memory was Lavender Graduation. It was amazing
to be in community with so many peers I had learned from throughout my
time at GVSU and to celebrate faculty and staff who uplifted and
supported us.
3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
Your career is what you do, not who you are. For a while, I had
always felt like I was never passionate enough or willing to give
enough to my career. Now I am confident in the fact that I can make a
positive impact every day, and then go home and enjoy my hobbies and
connections outside of work has helped give me the balance I was
looking for.
4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand
Valley experience.
Greek Life, Community, Exploration
5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
I want to help redefine what professionalism is. To include
voices, narratives, and representation in the professional world that
are genuine and authentic, and show others that they belong and are valued.
