1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
My experience at Grand Valley State University equipped me with
the professional skills to adapt my Geology degree to an environmental
career in my home state of Michigan. After graduating, I briefly
gained work experience at a small water sampling company based in
Traverse City before landing a position as a lab technician at the
University of Michigan Earth & Environmental Sciences department.
I currently work as an environmental consultant with a mid-size
company based in the Detroit area.
2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
I made some great friends and worked with some superb professors
during my time at GVSU. Although I thoroughly enjoyed the classes that
I took, my favorite memory at GVSU was attending the sporting events
like soccer games and football tailgates with friends. GVSU has some
top-notch athletic programs, and I return to GVSU to cheer on my team
as often as I can!
3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
Excelling in your career requires working with people. Earning a
degree at a liberal arts college is incredibly valuable because it
equips you with the vocabulary to communicate with others effectively.
4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand
Valley experience.
Challenging, Rewarding, and Fun!
5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
I would like to improve the quality of life for everyone through
environmental stewardship and advocacy, starting with my local community!
