1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
After graduation in 2016, I immediately moved down to Clearwater,
FL for a 6 month internship with Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Since
2016 I have worked with the Rehabilitation Team, Resident and Aquatic
Biology Team and Sea Turtle Conservation Team. I am currently an
Associate Sea Turtle Biologist where I spend every morning before
sunset patrolling the beach for evidence of false crawls, nests, and
hatchlings. I also have had the opportunity to work with Florida Fish
and Wildlife Conservation with marine mammal pathology, rescue and
release. Though my time here in Florida I also have had the privilege
to meet the love of my life and future husband and created many new friends.
2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
My favorite Grand Valley memory has to be Toast with T.Haas. It
was the last item in the GV picture bucket list to get a photo with T.
Haas. I found it wonderful that a president of a college took the time
to congratulate all of his graduates.
3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
The best piece of advice I have received is never give up. On my
field jobs are sparse and difficult to obtain but by never giving up I
was able to overcome the feeling of defeat and land myself with a
position in the Sea Turtle Conservation field
4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand
Valley experience.
Laker for a Lifetime
5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
The difference I would like to make is bring more education
towards ocean conservation. Small steps by working with endangered
species such as manatees and sea turtles has helped me see how much we
all can really help save our planet and oceans.
