1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
I have been in the property & casualty insurance industry
since graduation. My finance & marketing background has allowed me
to flourish in the alternative risk transfer segment. This area
focuses on providing loss-sensitive programs, captive insurance
companies, and other risk financing tools to help clients achieve
stability through control of their risk as well as lower their total
cost of risk.
2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
There were so many, sledding down the hill on trays from the
Commons, concerts, grabbing Peppino's, looking to see if "the
rock" had been repainted, crossing the Little Mac (wondering if
it was shaking for a reason), and finally, graduating in the spring of 1988.
3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
"Give everything you do your best and most hard-fought
effort." This advice was given to me by my Dad when I was in high
school and I have never forgotten those words.
4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand
Valley experience.
Entertaining, Gratifying, Wholesome
5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
I am already making a difference in the field I work in. Without
P&C insurance, commerce in the US would grind to a halt spurred on
by frivolous lawsuits that would gum up the innerworkings of the
economy. We may not be popular but we're necessary.
