1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
I spent 25+ years working in TV news, mainly as a
producer/executive producer of morning shows in Chicago, Indianapolis,
and Grand Rapids. Since leaving the news business, I have become a
full-time writer/producer, creating written and video content for
online platforms. I'm currently ghostwriting a book for a Chicago
media personality.
2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
I was lucky enough to snag a reporting internship my first
semester at the University's public radio station. I continued to work
there until I graduated, covering stories all over the area. One of my
all-time favorite experiences was attending Nelson Mandela's visit to
Tiger Stadium in 1990.
3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
I have two: 1) "Go with your gut." Mine never fails me.
And 2) "Think big." When you're working in TV (and really in
life), you always want to have more/do more than the competition in
good ways - keeping in mind your values and ethics at all times of course.
4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand
Valley experience.
Life-changing, enriching, and challenging
5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
I would like to use my writing and producing skills to help tell
important stories about people doing good works around the world.
