CHM 247 - Principles of Organic Chemistry II
An examination of the chemistry of alkyl halides, aromatic compounds, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, and derivatives of carboxylic acids. This course will build on the principles learned in CHM 245, emphasizing reaction energetics, stereochemistry, and spectroscopic analysis of reaction products. A mechanistic approach in organic problem solving will be stressed. (3-1-0) Offered winter semester. Prerequisites: CHM 245 and CHM 246. Co-requisites: CHM 248.
