HST 339 - Modern Iran

This course is a study of the major developments in the history of Iran from the Qajar shahs to the current Islamic Republic, concentrating on the relationship between state and society by highlighting religious, political, and cultural developments in modern Iran. Offered fall semester of even numbered years.

Prerequisites: Historical Perspectives Foundation or junior standing.
