LAT 401 - Roman Poetry
Readings from the works of Roman poets such as Catullus, Lucretius, Horace, Ovid, and Juvenal. Topics include attitudes toward love; the relationship of poets and their patrons; war, power, and politics; poetry as a vehicle of social commentary; and the response of the Roman poets to Greek literature and philosophy. Offered winter semester of odd numbered years. Prerequisite: One 300 level Latin course.
