SW 693 - Social Research II
The second course in social research. Evaluation of social work practice and development of new knowledge with particular reference to the generalist orientation. Emphasis on demonstrating ways to incorporate research skills as an integral part of social work interventions with individuals, families, and larger systems. Includes both small group research and single-system designs. Particular attention given to the rationale for doing single-system research for evaluating social work practice; procedures for developing single-system designs, recording and assessing data for reliability and validity, and using the results for planning effective intervention and follow-up. Also included is content on research ethics for generalist practitioners. Crosslisted with CJ 600. Offered spring/summer and fall semesters. Prerequisite: SW 690.
