Master of Education in Instruction and Curriculum - Advanced Content Specialization Emphasis

This program is designed for teachers who wish to further develop their knowledge and competencies in their specialized content area and also in teaching at the middle or high school levels. Students can complete a science concentration within this emphasis program.
Minimum Number of Hours in Program
The M.Ed. degree in instruction and curriculum with an emphasis in advanced content specialization requires a minimum of 33 semester hours.

Each candidate for the M.Ed. in instruction and curriculum must complete the following areas:
Social foundations of education (choose one):
- EDF 671 - Educational Policy and Practice (3 credits)
- EDF 672 - Social/Cultural Foundations of Education (3 credits)
Research and evaluation:
Emphasis area requirements for advanced content specialization include:
- EDI 639 - Curriculum Development (3 credits) Credits: 3
- EDI 637 - Assessment: K-12 Models and Practices (3 credits) Credits: 3
- EDI 638 - Facilitating School Environments (3 credits) Credits: 3
At least 15 approved credits in the subject matter listed below (see content department for additional coursework):
Capstone (choose one):
- EDI 693 - Master's Project (3 credits)
- EDI 695 - Master's Thesis (3 credits) (Two semesters of EDI 695 totaling 6 credits)
