ENG 328 - Contemporary American Literature

Study of established and emerging authors, literary movements, genres, or themes since 1945. Students will consider questions of what defines "American" through examination of cultural, historical, and political contexts that define U.S.-American contemporary period, e.g., Cold War, 9/11, borderlands/identities, globalization, social justice movements, race. Offered winter semester of odd-numbered years. Prerequisite: ENG 215, ENG 216, or ENG 261.
