Resources at GVSU
There is a wealth of resources available to you as a GVSU student. To learn more, make an appointment with your professional advisor in the CLAS Academic Advising Center or with your faculty advisor.

CLAS Internship Funding
CLAS Internship Funding provides monetary support for undergraduates
who obtain an internship to investigate career options, develop
skills, and link classroom learning to the world of work. Internship
Funding is available thanks to the generous gifts of the CLAS Dean’s
Office and Supporters who believe in the importance of experiential opportunities.

Office of Undergraduate Research
The Lakers Venture Grant funds up to $2,000 for off-campus "independent research" or "experimental projects in the arts."
The Student Summers Scholars Program funds partnerships between faculty and students for research to be conducted in the summer, including a $2,500 stipend.
The Library Scholars Summer Program provides students with a $2,000 scholarship to do research for 20 hours a week in the Spring/Summer semester which will result in a product that serves the mission of the library.
In addition to the general funds OURS offers to students from a range of disciplines, there are awards specific to disciples and fields, including the sciences and mathematics. These funds range from $2,500 to $5,000.
OURS Research Support for Students awards include funding for conference travel and project supplies, up to $500 for supplies, and $800 for travel.
Career Center
Career Center Internship Award
This award provides $500 to a student completing an unpaid internship.
First-Generation Career Support Award
This award is for a first-generation student completing an unpaid internship or other experiential learning activity. The amount of the award varies.
Padnos International Center
These scholarships fund summer study abroad as well as semester and year-long study abroad. Some of these are major-specific. There are need-based funds and funds that do not consider financial need, and the amounts range from $500 to $15,000.
External Funding
The Critical Language Scholarship funds students to travel to another country for an 8 -10 week intensive language learning program. Room, board, program fees, and program-sponsored travel costs are also covered.
The Council on International Education Exchange offers multiple semester-long as well as quarter, summer, and "single block" scholarships. These scholarships range from $500 to $2,500 and include scholarships that consider financial need as well as scholarships that do not require financial need.
The Fund for Education Abroad offers multiple scholarships for for-credit study abroad programs, taking into account financial need as well as other factors. Preference is given to students of color, first-generation college students, and community college students. Awards range from $1,000 to $5,000.
