Dr. Kelly Margot Receives $2.5 Million Grant Serving Gifted & Talented Youth in SE Michigan

Congratulations to Dr. Kelly Margot in Teaching and Learning on receiving a $2.5 million grant, Matter of Equity 2.0 (MoE 2.0)!

This grant will be a catalyst for greater change for gifted and talented youth in Southeast Michigan, centering on the students most often left out of the conversation - those that are racially/culturally marginalized, economically disadvantaged, English language learners, and students with disabilities (2e).

MoE 2.0 will provide targeted and deeper support as Detroit Public School Community District begins implementation of a newly approved Gifted & Talented Education (GATE) Program to ensure it remains equity centered. Secondly, MoE 2.0 will expand to other school districts in Southeast Michigan by utilizing existing professional development systems through the Intermediate School Districts, beginning in Wayne County.

Dr. Margot is Co-PI and will be responsible for ensuring all elements of the project design and content development representing an exceptional approach that has been reviewed externally by the appropriate content experts, and are developed using feedback and a process of continuous improvement.
