Director of GVSU Criminal Justice Education Center Receives Two Law Enforcement Training Grants

Williamson (Billy) Wallace, director of the GVSU Criminal Justice Education Center, on behalf of the West Michigan Criminal Justice Training Consortium, received two law enforcement training grants from the State of Michigan, Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES), Michigan Justice Training Competitive Grant Program.

Police Precision Driving Grant:
Law enforcement agencies have an ongoing need to provide training in safe emergency vehicle operations as the majority of a law enforcement officer’s day is spent operating a police vehicle. Police Precision Driving consists of four separate segments – (1) On-line Learning, (2) Defensive Driving, (3) Emergency Driving, and (4) Defensive and Emergency Driving Refresher Class.

Fundamentals of Realistic De-Escalation:
Law enforcement agencies have come under intense pressure in recent years to focus their efforts on “de-escalation.” This course will present law enforcement concepts and methods to support de-escalation efforts.
