WGVU Morning Show Interview with Lauren Delatorre-Osborne, '14

Lauren knew right away that she wanted to enter the workforce, so one of the initial factors in coming to Grand Valley State University (GVSU) was the high placement of their graduates. She was also attracted to the variety of majors GVSU had to offer and the onboarding process she encountered while transferring from Grand Rapids Community College which made the transition very seamless. The GVSU staff were very friendly and supportive during the whole onboarding process.

One of the factors why she chose the Legal Studies program was the critical thinking and writing involved. She knew these skills would help her throughout her legal career. The second factor was the diverse professional staff and the wealth of knowledge they brought into the classroom.

Lauren's career began with her intership with a local bankruptcy firm. From there, she's been employed by a criminal defense attorney, collections law with FifthThird Bank, and her current position as the Labor Relations Assistant with the city of Grand Rapids. With each position she's held, she's been able to gain a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Her advice to students...network! It is so important since you never know who you'll meet or who you can help.
