What are you currently studying and what do you find exciting about it?
I am currently studying genetic counseling at Indiana University. What I most like about the field of genetic counseling is the intersection between science and social interaction with patients. I am excited by the opportunity to empower patients to advocate for themselves by providing them with all of the information they need to better understand their condition or risk for a condition.
How did your GVSU Chemistry/Biochemistry degree help you
prepare for your graduate
studies?
My GVSU biochemistry degree has been especially helpful in giving me a strong understanding of biochemical mechanisms within the body. The training that the GVSU biochemistry department provided also allowed me to grow in my problem solving skills which are essential to my career field.
