About
Hi there! I've worked at Grand Valley since 2005, as a professor in the English Department (ask me about extremely nerdy long nineteenth-century novels!) after earning my PhD at the University of Texas at Austin. I grew up in Massachusetts but since I got my BA and MA at the University of Notre Dame, I've now lived in the Midwest for almost half my life—I've adopted "ope!" but will NEVER say "pop." I stepped into the Interim Director role at the CLAS Advising Center in August 2023, and am so excited to be joining such a wonderful group of people. Professional advisors are an integral part of students' academic success, and I am honored to get to work with this team. When I'm not in the office, I'm probably doing something related to the fiber arts while listening to an audiobook (mysteries, please and thank you!) and/or hanging out with my husband, stepson, and my pup Frankie (the cutest dog in the world, except for yours, probably).
