Maggie is a Roman archaeologist with research interests in the Roman economy, farmers and rural environments, non-elite society in the Roman world, and archaeological methods and data collection. She has presented on these subjects in various conferences and other venues and is currently writing her first book, A Consumer Countryside: Market Integration in the Rural Economy of Roman Britain, which explores the environments, societies, and economies in four regions in Southern Britain.

Maggie comes to GVSU from Hope College, where she taught world history surveys, Greek and Roman civilization, and freshman seminars on travel and culture shock, and conspiracy theories in archaeology. She has worked on archaeological programs in the US and in the UK, Italy, Greece, and Romania.

She encourages students to come chat with her about Classics, Archaeology, and any matters related to rural life in Michigan or further afield.
