Description

Classics Alumni are successful, enthusiastic people who want to connect with you and help you along your path here at Grand Valley, and this Workshop is an excellent opportunity for you to get started making those connections. Again, plan to join in on the 28th, for about 50 mins (brief presentation at beginning but focus thereafter on conversation).  This is a great way to get your semester started and to get to know a recent graduate of our program.

•Our January speaker is Abigail DeHart.  Abigail graduated from GVSU in 2015 (double major in Classics and Philosophy) and from the University of Michigan's law school in 2019, and she is currently an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Illinois.  She is especially interested in issues of educational equity and mass incarceration.  Abigail notes, "Although I found that I love practicing law, I had a difficult time figuring out if I wanted to go into academia instead, and so would love to talk with students about making hard choices about "what's next?" "
