Classics Alumni Workshop: What I Learned in Graduate School Is...
Date and Time
Friday, November 13, 2020 12:00 PM - 1:15 PM
Location
Zoom virtual meeting
Description
A candid and personal lunch with a GVSU alumnus as he shares what aspects—both good and bad—took him by surprise in graduate school and on the academic job market, reflections on what his career path might have looked like had he made different decisions, and why you should always have backup plans. This is not meant to encourage or dissuade you from pursuing graduate school, but hopes to shatter some of the naïveté and misconceptions that he himself held when he left GVSU for the not-so-big city of Cincinnati.
Andrew (“Andy”) Lund received his B.A. from GVSU in 2013, and he earned his M.A. and doctoral candidacy from the University of Cincinnati in 2018. He is currently the Classical Languages and Cultural Program Coordinator at Colorado College as he finishes his dissertation.
