Scholarship supports College Year in Athens

Classics major Jenna Weatherwax has been awarded a Barbara H. Padnos International Scholarship for 2018. She will spend the 2018-19 academic year studying abroad at the prestigious College Year in Athens (CYA) program.
The Padnos International Scholars program supports substantive study abroad programs for GVSU undergraduates. Recognizing the benefit that long-term study abroad can provide to students throughout their lifetimes, the program provides opportunities for students to acquire an in-depth understanding of the language, culture, and values of another country. Only students studying abroad for two semesters or an academic year at one location are eligible. Preference is given to students in the Arts and Humanities.
Established in 1962, College Year in Athens was the first study-abroad program in Greece for English-speaking undergraduates. Its programs are delivered at the Athens-based International Center for Hellenic and Mediterranean Studies located in the heart of the city.
