GVSU Direct Credit

Direct Credit is a type of concurrent enrollment where high school students earn college credit for the career and technical education (CTE) courses they take at their local Career Tech Center or High School. There are three steps:

Step ONE: Eligible CTE courses are first reviewed by GVSU faculty.

Step TWO: If an equivalency exists, the CTE program instructor is evaluated through the GVSU Faculty Qualification Assurance process to ensure they meet university accreditation requirements.

Step THREE: Upon completing the approved CTE course(s), students who earn a B or better complete a non-degree direct credit application and receive a GVSU transcript with their course(s) and grade(s) listed.

Currently, GVSU's direct credit partners include Allegan County Area Tech & Education Center, Careerline Tech Center, Charlevoix-Emmet Intermediate School District, Eaton Regional Education Service Agency, Hudsonville High SchoolKent Career Tech Center, Muskegon Area Career Tech Center, Northwest Education Services, West Michigan Center for Arts and Technology, Wilson Talent Center, and Zeeland Public Schools.

GVSU is actively expanding its direct credit partnerships across Michigan. For more information, please contact Mike Eichberger ([email protected]), School Partnership Specialist, in the Office of the Provost.
