GVSU Geology and Honors presents a face-to-face (f2f) Zoom lecture with Regents Professor M. Abdelsalam.
Dr. Mohamed Abdelsalam is the Boone Pickens and Regents Chair of Geophysics and Co-Director of the Professional Sciences program at Oklahoma State University. He served as the President of the Geological Society of Africa between 2001 and 2004 and is currently serving as the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of African Earth Sciences and as a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of International Geology Review. He was elected a Fellow of the Geological Society of America in May 2008 and a Fellow of the Geological Society of Africa in November 2008. Dr. Abdel Salam received the Missouri S&T Faculty Excellence Award in December 2008 and also received the Oklahoma State University Outstanding Graduate Coordinator Award in April 2017.
His presentation will discuss the geography, geomorphology, and regional tectonics of the Nile drainage system as well as outline the important features and geological events in its different segments.
