Grand Valley State Universitys Asian Student Union is hosting its annual Asian New Year Festival. On February 17th, from 6-9:30pm in Kirkhof Grand River Room, join us as we celebrate the year of the dragon!

We will showcase various Asian cultures through performances, dancing, and FREE FOOD. This will be a semi-formal event, so we encourage everyone to dress accordingly.

We would like to give a special shoutout to Bamboo Express and Aroy Thai for making our food. Also shoutout to ASAP for allowing us to provide free food/beverages from these Asian-owned businesses!

Throughout the event, we will also be holding giveaways. Our big Red Envelope Giveaway, will only be available to the first 150 guests that arrive. In addition, we will only guarantee a plate of food to the first 300 guests that arrive, so please come on time to secure your plate! Guests that arrive after the first 300 are still allowed in but wont be guaranteed food.

We will be fundraising for the Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights this year. Their purpose is to protect and advance immigrant children's rights and best interests. Their goal is to change the immigration system so that children in immigration proceedings are recognized as children instead of adults, and best interests are made as a part of the decision-making process.

Welcome to the Asian Student Union page! For the Fall Semester of 2023, our meetings will take place in person every Wednesday 7:00pm-9:00pm. Check our Instagram to see which room!

We create a fun, family-like environment for those looking to broaden their knowledge of Asian and Asian-American traditions, culture, and more. We also discuss stereotypes, celebrate Asian holidays, and explore Asian games/food. Asian Student Union hosts two signature events every year: the Asian New Year Festival and the R.I.C.E (Realizing and addressing Issues in our Culture and Education) conference.
