Backpacking Virginia - Fall Break UPDATED

Based on a wealth of feedback we received, we have made the decision to modify the trip in order to have more broad student appeal. We plan to keep the location as Virginia/ West Virginia and are working to finalize a hike between 12-18 miles. We believe this distance will allow the best balance between putting in worthwhile mileage to see cool sights and having time to stop and smell the roses.

Due to the remoteness and strenuousness of the activity/ location, some hiking and camping experience is required.

Hike
The original hike planned is to the Three Ridges loop in Virginia. We may still keep this hike but are contemplating other of similar distance now that we don't have to be off-trail by Monday morning.

Lodging
Plan on tent camping each night.

Equipment
Group and individual backpacking equipment will be provided by OA as-needed. Please keep in mind that OA does not have trekking poles.

Meals
Breakfasts and dinners while backpacking will be provided by OA except for the first and last days while driving to/ from our destination (we'll stop somewhere along the way, as needed). This practice helps save space, money, and ensures adequate nutrition that your body will need while backpacking. Meals while driving, lunches, as well as all snacks will be the responsibility of each participant to plan and pack for themselves. Only food that does not require refrigeration will be allowed.

Cancellations, Contingency, Refund Plans

Due to the nature of Outdoor Adventures programs and our commitment to risk management; trip activities, itineraries, and locations may be adjusted to ensure the best experience for participants. Outdoor Adventures reserves the right to cancel or postpone trips due to factors including but not limited to low registration and inclement weather.

If Outdoor Adventures cancels or postpones a trip, participants will receive a full refund. However, if significant changes to the trip occur after departure due to circumstances beyond our control, participants may be eligible for but are not guaranteed a partial refund, depending on the non-refundable expenses incurred by Outdoor Adventures.

Info Session(s): Come to any of our Monday Socials between 5p-6:30p to chat with one of our trip leaders.
Training Hikes:
- Sun. Oct. 13th, 5pm
  (meet at the Ravines Center so we can fit packs and add some weight)
Mandatory Pre-Trip Meeting: Sunday, Oct. 13th at 7pm
Alternate if you can't make the Sunday meeting or register after it... Wednesday, October 16th, 5pm at the Ravines Center
