Science On Tap, co-sponsored by GVSU and SpeakEZ Lounge, is an opportunity for conversation, debate, and interaction between scientists and the public while drinking beer. Each month at SpeakEZ, a knowledgeable expert hosts a scientific discussion about current topics in the news such as Ebola and the paleo diet. This is a great chance to exercise your academic interests in a casual setting while enjoying great food and adult beverages.
Below is the information for April's Science On Tap:
Speaker: Chris Reed, Dept. of Biomedical Sciences, Grand Valley State University
Event Description:
The European Renaissance – lasting from roughly the middle of the 14th Century CE through the 16th Century – marks a renewal of appreciation for the arts and sciences that had been lost during the Middle Ages. The modern advent of human anatomical study is found in the Renaissance, and the art of the time informed the science of anatomy as much as anatomy informed the art. This discussion reviews this symbiotic relationship of art and science, and how it continues today.
