The Employer Panel is a special event within the GVSU Student Scholars Day that connects students with employers who actively seek candidates with undergraduate research experience. The panel will highlight local employers committed to hiring students engaged in research and offer valuable insights into how research skills translate to key workplace competencies. Additionally, the event provides a unique opportunity for students to network with potential employers while hearing inspiring success stories from former students who have successfully transitioned from research to professional roles in the community. This event is co-sponsored with The GVSU Career Center.

The Employer Panelists

Spencer Streeter, Talent Acquisition Manager, Northern Bio

Spencer Streeter is the Talent Acquisition Manager at Northern Bio, bringing over 18 years of experience in Preclinical Research and human resources leadership. With a background as a lab technician and manager, he transitioned to HR and Recruiting after earning his Master’s in HR Management and is now dedicated to driving the company's growth by attracting top talent.

Laurie Johnson, Talent Acquisition & Onboarding Coordinator, HealthWest

Laurie Johnson is the Talent Acquisition & Onboarding Coordinator at HealthWest, with 16 years of experience in Human Resources, Workforce Development, and Corporate Training. She specializes in driving recruitment results through equity and aligning candidates with the right job fit, while focusing on long-term retention through positive workplace culture and staff development.

Deann Crosby, Manager of Talent Attractions & Recruitment, North America Haworth Corporation Holland, MI

Deann Crosby is the Manager of Talent Attraction & Recruitment at North America Haworth Corporation in Holland, MI, where she leads a team of 14 professionals focused on building talent pipelines and managing recruitment for various roles. With over twenty years of experience in Human Resources, including a background in the education sector, Deann is dedicated to mentoring talent and helping organizations attract top candidates.

Jason Cooper, Research Scientist Department of Metabolism and Nutritional Programming, Van Andel Research Institute

Jason Cooper is a Research Scientist in the Department of Metabolism and Nutritional Programming at the Van Andel Research Institute. With a background in studying aging-related pathologies and Parkinson's disease, he now focuses on exploring the complex interactions between metabolism, aging, and disease.
