Field Camp
Field Camp Requirement
The B.S. in Geology and B.S. in Geology with Environmental Emphasis degree programs require that students must complete one of the following that include a summer field camp in geology (taught by another college or university) that is approved as GEO 493 (3 to 6 credits).
- GEO 315 - Geological Field Methods (3 credits) and an approved field camp: GEO 493 - Applied Field Geology (1 to 8 credits)
OR an approved field camp: GEO 493 - Applied Field Geology (1 to 8 credits).
Students are strongly encouraged to meet with their academic advisor early in the geology program to discuss field camp options. You will find a current (mostly) and comprehensive list of Geology field camps in the U.S. and abroad at https://geology.com/field-camp.shtml.
For additional information about which camps have been attended by GVSU Geology alums, please contact the Geology office.
