. GVSU is pleased to offer Pivot-RP service to any faculty or staff with an @gvsu.edu e-mail address.  The database offers a wide variety of federal, non-federal, and private funding opportunities for any discipline.  When you create an account and profile in Pivot-RP, you can save search criteria, track and share opportunities, and receive weekly updates on new funding opportunities.  

FEDERAL TOOLS

Grants.gov - Online source to find and apply for federal government grants. Today, Grants.gov is a central storehouse for information on over 1,000 grant programs and provides access to approximately $400 billion in annual awards.

National Science Foundation (NSF) Funding Search – This site is specific to NSF funding opportunities and may be filtered by Directorate and Division or you can search by keywords.

National Institutes of Health (NIH) Grants & Funding – The NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts is a searchable database.  You can sign up to receive weekly updates of new grant opportunities.

US Department of Education – This site is specific to federal education grants.

Institute of Education Sciences – An arm of the US Dept. of Ed., this organization focuses on research about education.

National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) – Offers federal grants in the humanities and humanistic social sciences. You can search for opportunities and past awards.

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) – Offers federal grants in the arts, primarily the performing arts.

OTHER
Proposal Central – This submission portal lists primarily nonprofit programs that use this as their proposal submission platform.  You can view “Filter by Grant Maker” for current lists of proposals by participating organizations.

MICHIGAN-SPECIFIC TOOLS

FundsNet – A database of Michigan grants and foundations.

Michigan Arts and Culture Council (MACC) – MACC's current opportunities are listed here, as well as in other finding aids.

Michigan Humanities – Founded by the NEH, supports humanities programming in Michigan.

Internal Funding Sources and Resources

Center for Scholarly and Creative Excellence (CSCE) Funding Opportunities – Several funding opportunities are offered to primarily faculty in areas such as Seed Funding for research, dissemination of work, and collaborative activity.

Center for Undergraduate Scholar Engagement (CUSE) – Check out the CUSE website for information on internal funding opportunities, external funding, and fellowships. 

  • Lakers Venture Grant Program - provides students with up to $2,000 in funding to conduct immersive, full-time, student-driven, original and independent research or to pursue experiential projects in the arts.
  • Academic Conference Fund - the ACF is available to all undergraduate students who may be looking for one time funding to present/perform at an academic conference related to their major, minor, and/or professional goals.
  • Academic and Professional Enrichment Fund - the APEF provides travel funds up to $500 to support undergraduate student travel to academic conferences and meeting coordinated by a faculty sponsor.
