Grand Valley's Knowledge Market has added digital skills consultants to their suite of services. The pilot program for the digital skills consultants will provide strategies and advice for students who would like to learn more about the devices and programs they have to use, or how to be more responsible technology users.

Student action teams seek to enhance university experience
The first student action team convened following a design thinking workshop held in January of this year. At the workshop, more than 50 students from a variety of majors, academic levels and backgrounds gathered with President Philomena V. Mantella to identify ways to reimagine the student experience at Grand Valley.

Recent graduates part of a team awarded $10,000 in global innovation competition
Margaux Sellnau, '20, and a team of four other college students were awarded second place and a cash prize of $10,000 at the 2020 Wege Prize competition. The Wege Prize is an annual competition focused on addressing systemic issues through developing circular economic models to drive change in the way we take, make and dispose of goods.

Alumna leads Grand Rapids window activation project
An alumna led a group of local artists to create meaningful murals on the many boarded-up businesses in downtown Grand Rapids. Some businesses were left with broken windows and other damage following a night of unrest after the death of George Floyd while in police custody in Minneapolis. Jasmine Bruce, '18, is one of the organizers of the Windows GR activation project. The goal of the activation is more than beautification, it's a powerful way "to amplify Black voices in the community."

Knowledge Market assists students through online consultations
With students set to complete this semester online, some may need additional assistance while working on their final assignments. The Knowledge Market is prepared to offer support. The Knowledge Market provides peer-to-peer mentoring services to students looking for feedback on research, writing or presentations. The program gives students access to the Speech Lab, University Library and Writing Center services all in one location to allow for a streamlined, in-depth service.
