Pia Kurusu White was just a girl when her father, the late Saburo Kurusu, took part in two significant events in 1940 and 1941 that led to the beginning of the United States' involvement in World War II, but she vividly remembers her father's recounting of the hours before the attacks on Pearl Harbor and his role in signing the Tripartite Pact with Germany and Italy.

Constitution expert Jeffrey Rosen to present at Hauenstein Center event

International alliances to be focus of Hauenstein Center event
Around the world, international alliances and partnerships are increasingly under scrutiny, with the U.K. poised to leave the European Union and tensions between the United States and Iran are escalated from the U.S. pullout from the Iran nuclear deal. Grand Valley alumnus awarded highly selective Phi Kappa Phi fellowship
A Grand Valley alumnus has been awarded a highly competitive scholarship by Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society. Scott St. Louis of Midland, Michigan, was selected as a recipient of a Marcus L. Urann Fellowship, named after the society's founder. St. Louis is one of only six recipients nationwide to receive the prestigious $20,000 fellowship.
