Spirit
All Things Spirit
SPIRIT "TOKENS" (BADGES) RAs will have the opportunity to earn Spirit Tokens for active participation and contribution to training. Spirit Badges double as raffle prize drawing “tickets.” Spirit badges will be distributed in recognition of demonstrated personal growth (RA challenges personal comfort zone); in recognition of active participation in training (asking and answering questions, participating in discussion, paying attention and taking notes, etc.); and in recognition of support of and assistance to HRL (helping with set up, clean up, etc.)
Tokens will be distributed by LCD, GA, Residence Life leadership staff, and Senior RAs. RAs should write their name and staff on the back of each badge they receive. Badges can be entered into raffle prize bags for a chance to win various prizes generously donated by HRL and campus partner staff. RAs can enter a badge into whichever bag(s) represent a prize they are interested in winning. Prize drawing will occur on Friday, August 18th. RAs may only win one prize.
IMMUNITY IDOL A hidden "immunity idol" (rock) will be hidden across the location of that day's training. During breaks and meals, RAs will have the opportunity to search for the hidden immunity idol. RAs will be given a chance to announce who find the idol each morning of training. If no one, claims it, staff will give them the hint to the rock. Whoever finds the rock will earn 10 Spirit Tokens. Each day the rock is not found the worth of the immunity idol increases by 10 spirit tokens.
SPIRIT POINTS Staff teams will have the opportunity to earn spirit points throughout training for participation in minute to win it spirit break competitions, theme dress days, lip sync, and roll call video. The winning staff team will be honored with the Most Spirited Staff Award at the end of training. The intention of the Spirit Points system is to keep RAs engaged in training and promote enthusiasm and pride.
SNAPS In HRL we use snaps as confirmation and recognition. It is customary during RA Training to snap when a statement is made that resonates with you. Snapping is a simple, quick way of saying "I agree with that!"
TRAVELING "BANNER" (TROPHY) On the first day of training the Residence Life Leadership Team will determine the first recipient of the traveling banner which is a Survivor Banner! When awarded the traveling banner, please use in area time and/or breaks to add your touch to the banner, and remember to bring it back to training so it can be passed on to the next staff. A representative from your staff will be invited to come to the front to give a description of the next staff receiving the traveling trophy and it will be passed onto to the next staff. The trophy will then be passed from staff to staff (based on recognition of spirit, enthusiasm, kindness, etc.) on the following days:
