Growing up as the youngest of nine children on the east side of Detroit, the Reverend Joe Jones came to believe early in life that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their origins. Today, Reverend Jones honors this principal through public service in Grand Rapids, where he has served as the Second Ward City Commissioner since 2016. Reverend Jones has also been President and CEO of the Grand Rapids Urban League since 2011, leading an organization which promotes economic empowerment and civil rights for minority communities.

Reverend Jones shared his personal and professional leadership lessons with our Cook Leadership Academy Fellows and our community.
