Paula Monopoli: Constitution Orphan
Centennial of the Nineteenth Amendment
Twenty twenty marked the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment, giving many women across the country the right to vote. In celebrating Constitution Day and the commemoration of the Nineteenth, the Hauenstein Center, in partnership with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation, and the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum, welcomed Professor Paula Monopoli. Professor Monopoli, author of Constitutional Orphan: Gender Equality and the Nineteenth Amendment was joined by Gleaves Whitney, founding director of the Hauenstein Center and now executive director of the Ford Foundation, for a conversation on the decade following the ratification of the Nineteenth.
