Job Summary

Provides exemplary customer service and support for a variety of functions within the Allendale Campus Student Assistance Center in the Registrar’s Office. This is a 12-month, 30 hour per week position. The hours are 9:30AM to 4PM Monday through Friday.

Essential Functions

  • Provides quality customer service at the Student Assistance Centers in Allendale by assisting with registration, financial transactions, student forms, requests for information, printing of transcripts, etc. 
  • Assists customers on the telephone, e-mail, and in person.
  • Interprets regulations and procedures and responds appropriately.
  • Responsible for financial transactions at the service counters
  • Responsible for maintaining and balancing a cash drawer.
  • Works at Commencement twice a year over the weekend.
  • Cross trains to assist other units as needed. 
  • Runs unofficial transcripts and degree audits.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Prepares, scans, and indexes document images.

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years relevant work experience.
  • Experience with various computer software applications such as Microsoft Office and/or equivalent.
  • Ability to operate office equipment.
  • Data entry experience.
  • Typing and spelling competency.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to provide quality customer service.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory work performance and attendance records.
  • Ability to successfully maintain positive intercultural and interpersonal relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some college and banking-related experience.
  • Higher education work experience.
  • Experience with a student data information system.
  • Demonstrated creative and innovative problem-identification and problem-solving skills.

Supervision Received

Receives supervision and work assignments from a designated supervisor, although other staff members in the unit may provide work direction.

Supervision Exercised

May be responsible for the coordination of work assignments for student employees.
